Waitress has been a smash hit on Broadway since 2015, and now it is coming to London’s famed West End in February 2019! Whether you’re a fan of the movie, the current Broadway production, or both, you are sure to have a blast when you come to London to see this fantastic performance.
The musical, featuring music and lyrics from the talented Sara Bareilles, tells the story of Jenna Hunterson, a waitress and pie baker in America’s South. She is a lovable character, but she is plagued by an abusive relationship with her husband, and she soon begins an affair with her doctor after she becomes pregnant. In her despair, she enters a pie contest as a potential way to escape her current problems.
The story, while having some darker themes and situations, is a light-hearted, funny romp through Sara’s life in the American South, and plays on many emotions that really engage the audience. Casting has not yet been announced, but the production will bring on an all-female creative team for the first time in West End history.
The show will take the stage at the Adelphi Theatre starting in February 2019. Waitress is based on the 2007 film by Adrienne Shelly, which was a rendition of the book by Jessie Nelson. This is a unique and fascinating story that will make for a perfect night, so you’d be doing yourself a favour by booking your tickets today.
