The Full Monty is coming to London!

Back in 1997, we were introduced to a hit comedy-drama that would go on to become a fond favourite amongst the public. A show that took an easier look at the desperation for money and how a positive outlook on life can lead one to ‘bare all’: The Full Monty.

Since its release, it has also gone on to tour the country on numerous occasions receiving critical acclaim and winning over audiences fairly easily.

However, it is now touring for the final ever time across UK and Ireland and will hit London at the New Wimbledon Theatre later on this year. And with that in mind, perhaps it is time you take this last chance to watch Simon Beaufoy’s award-winning stage play, that has also won the UK Theatre Award for Best Touring Production.

The ‘chuffing brilliant’ production tells the story of six Sheffield steelworkers who find themselves out of work and near enough out of luck. Inspired by the Chippendales, the group take a chance and look to sell out a performance that will knock the socks off the locals and turn their lives around!

The film was adapted for the stage by the Oscar-winning writer Simon Beaufoy and has been described as a hilarious and heartfelt production.

The all-star cast is led by Gary Lucy (Hollyoaks, Eastenders, Footballers Wives and The Bill) who plays the main role of Gaz. This is a role that Lucy has played for many years and has truly made it his own. He is joined by Andrew Dunn (Dinnerladies, Bremner, Bird & Fortune) who plays his best friend Gerald. Louis Emerick (Coronation Street) plays the aptly named Horse. Joe Gill (Emmerdale) plays Lomper. Kai Owen (Torchwood) plays Dave and James Redmond (Hollyoaks) plays Guy.

The main cast is joined by a wonderful supporting cast including Liz Carney, Amy Thompson, Bryonie Pritchard and Keeley Fitgerald, who come together to help portray the other side of the story from the women’s point of view.

Director Rupert Hill (Rolling with Punches), who is no stranger to the production and was in fact previously a fully-fledged Full Monty cast member, helps to bring a fresh edge to the award-winning production.

And let’s not forget about the incredible music that is intertwined with this brilliant production; with hits from Donna Summers, Hot Chocolate, and Tom Jones, there is no doubt that you won’t leave the auditorium tapping your feet and singing along. All of this partnered with design from Robert Jones (RSC), choreography by Ian West (The Blues Brothers), lighting by Colin Grenfell (Blackwatch) and sound by Luke Swaffield (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) this is a production that will entertain you from start to finish and leave you wanting more.
