You know him from Emmy winning series’ Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle, but Bryan Cranston has acting chops that extend far beyond the television. This is excellent news for fans of Cranston that also love the stage version of Network, as he is set to star in the Broadway transfer of the beloved play. This limited 18-week run will begin on November 10th, 2018 and is sure to be a fantastic production with plenty to cheer about.
Network is based on a 1976 film of the same name and focuses on a news anchor who experiences an on-air breakdown that makes him a national hero. The Broadway production promises to be a highly immersive experience, allowing the audience to participate in the performance through the use of stage devices and state-of-the-art AV technology. If you’ve always enjoyed the film Network but can’t imagine it translating to the stage, we think this is the perfect opportunity to prove yourself wrong.
Cranston already performed as Howard Beale in the National Theatre production of the play, and he won an Olivier Award in doing so. This makes it no surprise that they wanted him back for the Broadway production, and we are sure that he is delighted to be doing so. Cranston is guaranteed to bring passion, humor, and a unique portrayal of Beale to this role, and we are excited to see if he changes it up a little bit from his previous performance.
