& Juliet – Review

Sensational Swedish lyricist and songwriter Max Martin has most likely accomplished more to shape the modern-day pop scene than any person alive, with hits running from original ’90s crushes ‘…Baby One More Time‘ and the Backstreet Boys’ ‘Everyone‘, to late enormous bangers such as Taylor Swift’s ‘Clear Space‘ and The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face‘.

It’s a flat-out easy decision that a jukebox melodic based around the above catalogue would be a hen do-hoovering-up hoot… But surely, any good musical needs a suitable storyline to keep everything moving along nicely?

& Juliet is a rethinking of the events of Shakespeare’s heartbreaking romance ‘Romeo and Juliet‘ in which Juliet selects not to end herself toward the end, and rather takes off to France on an excursion of self-revelation. It sounds incomprehensibly crazy, which is probably the whole point.

There are various sorts of shows and musicals in the West End alone that will leave you with an entire scope of feelings. A few musicals can make you feel a rollercoaster of emotions all on their own. There’s something really extraordinary about a show that transports you into a different universe where the outside world doesn’t exist and everything else just melts away, if just for several hours.

In addition to the fact that I felt like I was going to overflow with happiness, looking around I could see colossal grins sparkling from everybody in the theatre. The vitality and energy in that room at the Shaftesbury Theatre were so unadulterated that it’s safe to say that & Juliet is an ideal marriage of popular music and musical theatre.

This musical truly has everything. All that you need in a show: splendid tunes, a mind-blowing story, a wonderful cast with decent variety and culture… & Juliet is a musical that is suitable for everyone! Not only does the story take the greatest romantic tale ever, the catastrophe that is Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and turn it on its head, but it also shows us an entire scope of romantic tales from differing, totally fleshed out, magnificent characters.

Another component that separates this phenomenal show from others is the youthful and liveliness of its cast, from the genuine enlivened relationship of William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway to the newly added queer characters, they are both fragile and excellent, really sincere.

Just as LGBT+ portrayal, this show has a splendid cast that is assorted in race and has the same number of capable male entertainers as it does female. The audience can truly observe themselves spoke to up on that stage, a voice is given to everybody and that sentiment of acknowledgement at & Juliet is another component of why you leave so happy and full of joy. I can’t express exactly how unique that makes this show!

They state money does not buy happiness, however, it can purchase & Juliet tickets and that is basically something very similar!
